Support to Village / Suburban Education Projects in Sonnahallipura and Hoskote Bangalore Rural District

  • Our objective is to increase the pass % at SSLC level from current 77% to around 90% in Government Girls High School, Hoskote, and Government Girls PU College, Hoskote, within two years. Thus a measurable Criterion has been set. To this end following actions have been taken:
  • Most Improved Students Awards are given to encourage weak students in each class & section to improve their Academic performance. We give one-time monetary award (currently Rs.500) to each student who meets the improvement criteria. (Up to 12 awards each year). One of our Members has agreed to fund this program.
  • English – Improvement. Spoken and written English is still a sought after criteria for prospective employment in India. From next academic year we are instituting awards to students who have shown highest improvement in written English.

    "How to Prepare for SSLC Board Mathematics Exam"


    This time the focus was on Girl students and How to prepare for Mathematics examination for 2013". These were batches of Students of Class X – the school finishing classes (both Kannada medium and English Medium ones) The Sessions were taken by one of our Executive Committee Member, Prof. Seema Nanda, PhD. who is a Professor in Mathematics and also the Promoter of a Collaborating Organization Leora Trust. This not only enthused the children but Teachers too found the sessions very interesting.

  • Promotion of Science Education especially Girl Students


    We have instituted scholarships (currently Rs. 5,000 per year) for three most promising Girls who have decided to continue their PU in Science. The main criterion is SSLC academic performance, financial need, maintaining and improving on academic performance and agreeing to attend classes on Spoken English and Computer Operations. Each scholarship is for two years and is sponsored by Senior Citizen Members.

  • Support to Aanganwadis and Villages


    Infants / Small non-school going children / Nursing and Expectant mothers - we have started taking care of their nutrition at Sonnahallipura village


    Here women have been initiated into engaging themselves in Cooperative activity of manufacturing Sanitary pads which our members help to market and distribute to Adolescent Girl Students to promote hygiene.
